California: Duplicate Bills

#1

Relatively new to using the V2 API so I may be doing something wrong, but the query {bill(jurisdiction: “California”, session: “20192020”, identifier: “AB 73”) {id}} fails because it returns two bills. I believe jurisdiction + session + identifier should be sufficient to return a unique bill.

Indeed, Openstates.org shows two bills with the same identifier for the current session, leading to server error when trying to get bill details on them.

Bug reports on data (not API functionality bugs) can be filed at

My best guess on this (only a guess!) is that there was a transient data problem at the state where they got SB 73 and AB 73 muddled, and the wrong one (“Budget Act of 2019”) needs to be pruned out of the OpenStates database.

Should have known that; I’ll file an issue.
